And we’re back.  It is time once again for my semi-regular offering of the choicest gems I found scouring the internet for all things mind, soul, and body.  Today I have virtual reality, depression, doctors, some crucial playing around, the endowment of power, medicinal goats milk, courage, one ton snakes, how one can actually buy happiness, and child brought into an alternate reality by his neighborhood dentist, to name just a very few.  So dig in and enjoy the very best of the internets- Read the rest of this entry »

And we’re back.  With this blog now in its second year, I am resetting the counter for points of interest, my irregularly irregular romp through all things mind, body and soul on the internets.  I waited on this oune until the weekend when I have usually put these out and as such had too many great posts to include.  Sheesh, slow down bloggers.  If only my muse were so kind.  Anyway, without further delay, I present the best I could find- Read the rest of this entry »

Welcome one and all to an irregular installment of my irregularly irregular collection of the very best of all things mind, soul, and body on the internet (That I could find, anyway).  Today I have Mormons and basketball, Pygmy Tarsiers, Mogwai, kilobunnies and kilorats, the spirituality of chess, and husbands in the doghouse to help heal your social phobia, ADHD, Bipolar, Depression, amnesia, self harm, or whatever else it is you are in need of.  So here is all I got… Read the rest of this entry »

And we’re back, time once again for a run down of the very best, most interesting, most educational, most inspiring, and most bizarre stuff I’ve been able to pick up here and there wandering the internet between actual work.    This time I have the anatomy of hope, the anatomy of gummi bears, heady philosophy from the likes of Descartes and Barth, the link between marshmallows and intelligence, sculpting shadows and lots more.  So have a seat and enjoy the very best of that my meanderings of the ethernet led to- Read the rest of this entry »

It’s back, while I may not have time to come up with anything worth reading out of my head, I am more than happy to share the wealth of what someone else wrote. Meanwhile, I continue to tread water on the wards. Read the rest of this entry »

So I started last week with the resolve that I will not post any further Points of Interest until it naturally fills itself with all categories. I refuse to dig for the treasure I share, but will give freely of my abundance. This will assure that reports of my romp through cyberspace will remain a labor of love and not simply labor. The odd thing is, this post wrote itself, and a day early. Sticking to my guidelines, here is the no longer weekly, but however long it takes to have the goods to share version of my points of interest, coming in just six days. Read the rest of this entry »

It is good to be back. I have just returned from the annual AAN conference, and my mind is now loaded with all the brain facts any person in their right mind should ever hope for, at least in the course of one week. Mastering the mind cannot be done in a lifetime. It is an odd paradox that the neuroscientist lives in. We try to understand why we think the way we do and thus gain the power to artificially change the way we think. But then, what is it that leads us to change the thinking if not our thinking and brains?

There is this odd and mysterious component of will that comes along, or is it just a will of the gaps? If we can understand all thinking, are we really thinking or are we executing a predetermined program? Is it environment, chaos, or some other explanation that leads us to alter thinking through thinking? Read the rest of this entry »

My, my my what a week. My reader is getting bloated, I need to figure out a way to decompress. The internet is just too darn big. I think I need to take up meditation and perhaps do an every other weekly summary, except there is an entire load of good stuff to summarize. Perhaps waiting would only make it worse. Without further ado, especially for you, the reader- Read the rest of this entry »
