Last December 24th, in the New York Times, Dr. Peter Singer eulogized one Harriet McBryde Johnson. This was a tribute to their 2003 head to head meeting, in which they sat on opposite sides and engaged in the single most fascinating debate on human rights that I have ever read. Whether its Moses parting the Red Sea, Jesus rising from the dead, Mohammed riding a winged horse of fire up into heaven, or the Angel Moroni appearing to Joseph Smith to lead him to an ancient record written by his own hand on gold plates, all the World’s great religions are founded upon miracles. They are fantastic and dramatic, and awe inspiring. They are also generally ridiculed and looked down upon in today’s “evidence based” world. To believe in miracles is to be gullible. In today’s world there must always be an explanation.
Spring is in the air, Happy Easter or passover or spring equinox everyone. I love this time of year. In all cases it represents new life. It also brings an abundance of uplifting posts. Here are the best I could find. Read the rest of this entry »
